This includes overseeing planned and reactive maintenance, managing contractors, ensuring statutory compliance, and contributing to the design and delivery of projects.

Your core role will include but not be limited to the following activities

  • Plan and allocate resources effectively to meet operational demands and service level agreements
  • Drive efficiencies across maintenance activities through continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice

  • Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works to ensure reliability and minimal downtime
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, health & safety standards, and company policies
  • Manage and monitor contractor performance to ensure quality, value for money, and adherence to standards
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact for technical matters
  • Ensure service delivery meets or exceeds client expectations, with a focus on responsiveness and quality
  • Analyse performance data and KPIs to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Support the delivery of projects, upgrades, and lifecycle works across mechanical and electrical systems

The ideal candidate

  • Strong background in mechanical and electrical engineering within a facilities management or building services environment
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and managing engineering teams
  • Proven track record of delivering both planned and reactive maintenance, driving operational efficiencies, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and health & safety standards. Experience in managing contractors, overseeing service delivery across multiple sites, and engaging directly with clients to maintain high service standards is essential.
  • A recognised qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering is required, ideally supported by relevant professional certifications (such as City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent).
  • An understanding of compliance frameworks and industry standards is important, along with strong technical knowledge of building systems.
