Lloyd’s is the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace. This role, Data Scientist – Portfolio Analytics, delivers analytics, tools and insights to support effective risk‑based oversight and continual improvement of market performance.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager and Portfolio Analytics colleagues to develop methodologies, tools and controls that enable efficient market oversight.
  • Lead analytical and data‑related projects to manage portfolio performance and drive forward‑looking assessments.
  • Develop new methods to understand performance and measure/target a sustainable portfolio mix, balancing risk, reward and strategic direction.
  • Quantify, model and analyse portfolio composition to identify opportunities and areas for oversight, further developing the Lloyd’s Model Portfolio.
  • Act as a subject‑matter expert for market data returns used by Underwriting to assess performance.
  • Improve data quality, insight, alignment and rationalisation across Underwriting.
  • Automate quarterly business processes such as risk‑based oversight, quarterly business review, PIP triage and underwriting risk appetite reporting.
  • Contribute to cross‑functional collaboration with Finance, Predictive Analytics, Capital and Data.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in an analytical role within insurance or a regulatory environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior stakeholders.
  • Project‑management capability and ability to drive change, build models, implement controls and encourage adoption.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using R or Python.
  • Experience building visualisation tools such as Qlik Sense, Tableau or Power BI.
  • Advanced knowledge of data‑management tools (Business Objects, SQL) and statistical/data science techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present technical information clearly to non‑technical audiences.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem‑solving and decision‑making ability.
