About the Role:
Reporting to the Lead Engineer, the Manufacturing Engineer will take responsibility for developing, improving and optimising manufacturing systems, procedures and equipment. The role operates within a fast paced production environment and requires the ability to work to defined timelines.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Production planning – Plan, coordinate and implement efficient, cost effective production methods for major sub components and complete machines.
- Cross functional coordination – Work closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to establish and implement containment actions and root cause solutions.
- Standard work implementation – Introduce and maintain best practice standard work on the shop floor.
- Build/drawing pack management – Create and maintain build documentation in line with Engineering Change Orders and New Product Development.
- Department liaison – Collaborate with supply chain, engineering and quality functions.
- Lean Manufacturing – Apply Lean tools including line balancing, 5S and Poka Yoke.
- Safety integration – Ensure all processes, new and existing, incorporate safe working practices.
- Production support – Provide day to day support to the Manufacturing Department.
- Problem solving – Apply logical and methodical approaches to resolve issues.
Criteria:
- HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Oracle experience advantageous).
- Competent with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with 3D modelling software is beneficial.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of machine shop and fabrication processes is advantageous.
- Strong multi tasking, attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Logical, methodical approach with strong teamwork skills.
