UPU Industries is excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Freight & Logistics Coordinator to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the efficient movement of our products across the UK and international markets!
General Role
To coordinate the efficient movement of goods, materials, and finished products by managing transport, freight forwarding, shipping documentation, and communication with carriers, suppliers, customers, and internal departments. The role ensures deliveries are completed on time, in full, and in compliance with all relevant legal, customs, and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrange and coordinate domestic and international shipments by road and sea
- Liaise with freight forwarders, hauliers, shipping lines, customs agents, suppliers and customers
- Track imported and exported goods, proactively communicating delays to stakeholders and resolving any freight, customs, stock or delivery issues in a timely manner
- Maintain and check commodity codes / HS codes for import and export products
- Prepare and process shipping documentation for all import and export movements, including accurate customs declarations, Incoterms, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, EUR1 documents and other market-specific materials
- Coordinate stock movements between production, warehousing and customers, ensuring accurate goods-in, customer despatches, PODs and stock reconciliations.
- Reviewing freight, duty, clearance and delivery invoices against agreed rates, quotes, PODs and shipment records, challenging discrepancies where required.
- Ensuring all purchase orders, receipts, delivery notes, invoices, stock movements and shipment records are accurately maintained in Microsoft Business Central.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within logistics, freight forwarding, transport planning, shipping administration, or a similar role.
- Good knowledge of import/export procedures, customs requirements, and international shipping documentation.
- Working knowledge of Incoterms and their practical application within domestic and international trade.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; experience using ERP systems such as Business Central would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational and skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with customers, suppliers, freight providers, and internal departments.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a wider team.
