Job Description

The purpose of this Field Service Engineer is to support the technical needs of Philips Imaging customers and customer service partners. In this role you will work both individually and as part of a wider team to install, maintain and repair our wide range of technologically advanced imaging equipment.

This is a general X‑ray focused role for the immediate term, though Image Guided Therapy may be added to your scope in due course.

The successful candidate would ideally be based in the Newcastle, Durham or Darlington area.

You are responsible for

  • Operating at an advanced technical level to provide expert advice and solutions to our customers and colleagues.
  • Providing field‑based and remote technical support to customers and colleagues in line with relevant training and experience.
  • Carrying out corrective, preventative, installation and field change order activities on complex healthcare systems.
  • Diagnosing mechanical, hardware and software system failures using established procedures and information.
  • Determining the most cost‑effective repair/solution to minimize customer downtime.
  • Actively participating in an ongoing rotation with the Field Service Engineer team, providing customers with direct remote support in a 5‑by‑7 working pattern.

You are a part of a regional team of collaborative Field Service Engineers who are expected to work to the highest standards to ensure first‑class service is delivered while ensuring quality and regulatory standards are adhered to in this heavily regulated industry.

You will report directly to the District Service Delivery Manager for the North East.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a customer‑first attitude and the following

  • HNC (NVQ Level 3 or higher) or Degree in Electro‑engineering or equivalent highly desirable.
  • Experienced logical problem solver with ability to work independently.
  • Experience carrying out corrective and preventative work for Imaging Systems devices and equipment desirable.
  • The ability to process knowledge across multi‑modality and diverse product ranges.
  • Recognise new technologies and adapt to daily challenges.
  • Deliver high levels of customer service.
  • Competent in IT/Network diagnosis, system connectivity and remote service desirable.
  • Living in a convenient location to service the Newcastle, Durham and Darlington area.

Due to the role working in the healthcare environment, a standard DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) criminal record check will be required for this role.
