We’re recruiting for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established engineering team, playing a key role in the design and delivery of commercial HVAC installations across a diverse portfolio of projects. This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging designs while collaborating with surveyors, project teams and sales professionals to deliver innovative and energy-efficient solutions.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to produce high-quality HVAC designs and supporting projects from initial concept through to installation.

Working from both office and site , you’ll collaborate with dedicated internal teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design commercial HVAC and mechanical building services systems
  • Produce detailed layouts, schematics and technical drawings
  • Work closely with HVAC Surveyors to develop project solutions
  • Support the Sales team by preparing technical designs and installation costings
  • Specify equipment and ensure designs meet current regulations and industry standards
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders throughout project delivery
  • Conduct site surveys and provide technical support where required
  • Ensure projects are delivered efficiently, accurately and within budget

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within the HVAC or Mechanical Building Services sector
  • Strong knowledge of heating, ventilation and air conditioning system design
  • Experience with air movement calculations and ventilation design
  • Ability to interpret specifications and produce practical engineering solutions
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to support project pricing and installation proposals
  • A proactive approach and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
