Leeds City College are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our vibrant 14-16 Skills Programme team. Youll play a key role in helping our learners, many of whom have SEND or additional needs, to thrive both academically and personally.

This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to create a nurturing and structured environment where every learner is empowered to succeed.

Please note, this is a reduced year (39 weeks) role. The pro rata’d salary is 23,902 with progression to 24,505.

What You Will Do

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to learners, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Work with staff to develop and implement effective learning strategies tailored to individual needs.
  • Contribute to the development and review of learner targets, EHCP outcomes, and progression plans.
  • Monitor learner progress and behaviour, and update tracking systems to identify and address barriers.
  • Facilitate communication with parents/carers and support external agency involvement.
  • Help to maintain high levels of attendance through supportive intervention and engagement strategies.
  • Assist in creating engaging learning environments, including educational visits and display boards.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the wider ethos of the 14-16 Skills Programme.

About You

  • Experienced in supporting young people in an educational setting, particularly those with SEND.
  • Skilled in building trusting relationships and inspiring learners to engage positively in their education.
  • A strong communicator, able to work collaboratively with staff, families, and professionals.
  • Organised, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Flexible and willing to support learners both onsite and in external settings such as work placements.
