Reed Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting a Cook for our client located in Newry

Hours: 36 hours per week (8.00am-6.00pm, 4 days per week)

Pay Rate: £16.73 per hour

Role Purpose

To manage the day-to-day running of the kitchen, preparing and serving high-quality meals and snacks whilst maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take charge of the kitchen and oversee daily food production.
  • Prepare and serve meals in line with menus, recipes, portion controls, and quality standards.
  • Order ingredients and manage kitchen stock effectively.
  • Support the training and supervision of catering staff.
  • Ensure residents are offered choice and meals meet individual dietary requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following infection control procedures.
  • Adhere to HACCP, Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, and Fire Safety regulations, including record keeping.
  • Report faulty equipment, maintenance issues, or hazards promptly.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  • Attend mandatory training and staff meetings.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Catering qualification.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, food hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Flexible approach to working weekends and shift patterns.
  • Satisfactory Access NI check.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of IDDSI guidance.
  • Experience working within a care home or healthcare setting.
