Main duties of the job

The postholder will play an active role in outpatient clinics and MDTs. Main duties include:

  • Provide expert assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and long‑term management of patients with cutaneous lymphoma.
  • Participate in cutaneous lymphoma clinics fortnightly, providing expert dermatological input.
  • Coordinate patient care across the pathways.
  • Active membership of the cutaneous lymphoma multidisciplinary team meetings and discussions.
  • Support service innovation and development in an area of growth and high‑volume patient activity.
  • Support good clinical governance including participation in audit, quality improvement initiatives, incident review, and implementation of good practice standards.

Job responsibilities

Organisational arrangements: This post is for 2.69 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week to provide clinical dermatological input into the Cutaneous Lymphoma service, supporting fortnightly clinics and active participation in the MDT.

Job planning: The plan outlines the requirements of the post and may be altered by joint agreement. It is reviewed annually and aligns to the Trust’s annual review cycle.

Annual review: Examines all aspects of the job plan, including educational and supervision components, and includes an assessment of professional development with defined goals.

Job plan: Combination of Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) delivered across the 7‑day week.

Monday: SPA (0.25SPA), Admin (0.25PA), Outpatient clinic (0.5PA), MDT (0.19PA)

Tuesday: NWD (No work days)

Wednesday: NWD, Outpatient clinic (0.5PA), SPA (0.5SPA), Admin (0.25PA), SPA (0.25PA)

Thursday: NWD

Friday: NWD, Outpatient clinic (0.5PA), Admin (0.25PA)

NWD: No work days (e.g., non‑working days)

Job Plan PA Summary

  • Total PAs Direct Clinical Care (DCC): 1.19 (Clinic 1PA, MDT 0.19PA, Admin 0.5PA)
  • Supporting Professional Activities (SPA): 1.5 core SPA (Supervision 0.25, SPA 0.75)

On‑call commitments: This role does not require participation in the on‑call rota.

Person Specification

Attainments

Essential

  • MRCP or equivalent qualification
  • Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register via one of the following:
    • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview)
    • Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR). Applicants who are not on the Specialist Register at the time of application must be eligible for inclusion within 6 months of the AAC date to be considered for appointment.
  • Evidence of productive ethical research relevant to oncology

Desirable

  • Recent publications in peer reviewed journals

Experience

Essential

  • Wide experience of oncology
  • Appropriate experience across all disease groups in medical oncology as well as clinical trials experience
  • Experience in teaching undergraduates
  • Evidence of contribution to teaching

Desirable

  • An appropriate higher degree
  • Teaching experience

Personal Skills

Essential

  • Team player
