About the Work

Ipswich Borough Council are looking for a self‑motivated and highly customer‑focused individual to join our Processing Team within Parking Services. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a friendly, supportive and professional team delivering essential services across Ipswich.

Parking Services Responsibilities

  • Managing parking provision across council car parks and on‑street
  • Managing and delivering the residents’ parking scheme
  • Enforcing parking restrictions across the town
  • Recovery of parking fees, and related enforcement activity

The Processing Team plays a key role in ensuring that administration, appeals, and Parking Penalty Charge Notices (PCN’s) are handled efficiently, accurately, and in line with legislation.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing the second stage of the Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) process
  • Reviewing appeals and preparing written responses
  • Progressing PCN cases, in line with legislation
  • Responding to enquiries from customers
  • Advising customers on parking permits, and processing applications
  • Administration related to clamping and removal of vehicles
  • Managing the residents parking permit scheme
  • Reconciling and reporting income

About you

Essential

  • Experience in a customer‑focused environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong IT skills and ability to work across systems

Desirable

  • Parking or customer service experience

You will be required to complete a City & Guilds Level 2 Award (Parking).

Working Pattern

  • Hybrid Working
  • Hours of work are 19 hours a week over 3 days (likely to be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday)
