Location: Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Blackpool, UK

Contract: Locum – Full Rota Duration: Immediate start until August 2026

Grade: Senior House Officer (SHO)

Overview

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated and reliable Locum SHO in Paediatrics to join the paediatric team at Blackpool Victoria Hospital on a full rota basis until August 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a busy district general hospital with a supportive multidisciplinary team and exposure to a broad range of paediatric cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality clinical care to paediatric patients within the department.
  • Participate in the full rota, including days, nights, weekends, and on-calls.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with acute and general paediatric conditions.
  • Work closely with Consultants, Registrars, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure patient safety standards are met.
  • Participate in ward rounds, handovers, and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Essential Requirements

  • GMC registration with a licence to practice.
  • Minimum 6 months NHS experience in Paediatrics (preferred).
  • ALS/APLS (desirable but not essential).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
