Accounting Manager

Position

Accounting Manager – London Finance team, reporting to the Financial Controller.

Responsibilities

• Lead the timely and accurate production of monthly, quarterly and annual underwriting results across premiums, claims, reserves and acquisition costs.
• Manage and continuously improve the end‑to‑end month‑end accounting process, ensuring strong controls and efficient delivery.
• Oversee reconciliations and technical balance controls, ensuring completeness, accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Lead, develop and motivate a small team of accountants, driving high performance and collaboration.
• Partner with FP&A, actuarial, reinsurance and regulatory teams, as well as auditors and head office, to deliver accurate financial insights and reporting.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of insurance accounting, including Lloyd’s and company market principles.
• Proven experience managing and developing accounting teams.
• Analytical strength – ability to interpret complex datasets and solve problems effectively.
• Advanced Excel skills; exposure to Alteryx, SQL or financial platforms is advantageous.
