Electronics Engineer

Company: Domin Fluid Power Limited
Apply for the Electronics Engineer
Location: Bristol
Job Description:

We are looking for a practical, hands-on Electronics Engineer to help develop the next generation of Domin’s high-performance electrohydraulic products.

You will work on embedded motor-drive electronics and control systems that combine sensing, communications, power electronics, and embedded control into compact, high-performance hardware operating in demanding real-world environments.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys taking ownership of real hardware problems – someone equally comfortable designing circuits, debugging prototypes in the lab, working through validation activity, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver production-ready systems.

You will contribute to electronics development across active product programmes, helping shape and improve systems through iterative engineering, testing, and technical problem-solving. The role offers broad exposure across hardware development, from schematic design and PCB layout through to prototype bring-up, testing, integration, supplier interaction, and certification support.

You do not need to arrive as a specialist in every area. We are looking for someone with strong electronics fundamentals, good practical engineering judgement, and the motivation to continue developing their capability in areas such as EMC, compliance, and advanced validation.

At Domin, you will work closely with highly capable engineers across electronics, software, controls, manufacturing, and mechanical design to develop products that push the performance limits of motion-control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electronics hardware for embedded motor-control and electrohydraulic systems.
  • Produce schematics, PCB layouts, and supporting engineering documentation using Altium Designer.
  • Carry out prototype bring-up, hardware debugging, validation, and test activities.
  • Define and execute electronics-level validation and test plans to validate circuit functionality and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with embedded software, mechanical, and controls engineers to support system integration.
  • Support iterative improvement of existing electronics designs through testing, analysis, and engineering change activity.
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support prototype and production readiness.
  • Contribute to certification, compliance, and technical review activities.
  • Degree-level education in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Maths, or a closely related discipline.
  • 2-7 years Industry experience developing electronics hardware in a product development environment.
  • Strong understanding of mixed-signal electronics design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and practical circuit debugging.
  • Experience using professional ECAD tools, ideally Altium Designer.
  • Ability to independently make circuit-level design decisions and define appropriate hardware validation activities.
  • Strong practical laboratory skills using standard electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong ownership, organisation, and communication skills.

Beneficial Requirements:

  • Experience developing motor-control, power electronics, or embedded control hardware.
  • Experience using simulation and analysis tools such as LTSpice.
  • Exposure to EMC, compliance, environmental, or production-introduction activities.
  • Familiarity with communications interfaces and embedded systems integration.
  • Experience working with suppliers or manufacturing partners.
  • Programming or scripting experience, particularly Python.
  • Awareness of functional safety or safety-related electronics development.
