School Business Manager – Level 3 Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week / 52 weeks per yearMonday – Thursday 8 – 4pmFriday – 8 – 3:30pm with a daily 30 minutes unpaid lunch

Pay scale: LG band 10 points 31 – 34, £47,181 – £50,269 (pay award pending) plus contribution to the Local Government Pension Scheme

Responsible to: Headteacher

Key relationships: Senior Leadership Team, Admin staff, Premises Officers and Trust finance team.

Taylor Road Primary School is seeking to appoint an exceptional School Business Manager to join our dedicated leadership team and play a pivotal role in the continued development of our vibrant and inclusive school community. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking professional to lead and manage the strategic and operational functions of the school, ensuring that our children and staff have the very best environment in which to thrive.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher, senior leaders and the Trust to provide strategic leadership across:

  • Strategic planning and school improvement
  • Human resources and safer recruitment
  • Estates, facilities and premises management
  • Health & safety, compliance and risk management
  • Administration and operational systems
  • Finance and budget management
  • GDPR and Data Protection Officer responsibilities

They will be instrumental in ensuring that operational systems support high-quality teaching, learning and safeguarding across the school.

  • Highly organised, proactive and solution-focused
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of HR processes, compliance and operational management
  • Financial and operational management experience
  • Understanding of safeguarding and compliance
  • Ability to work strategically while managing day‑to‑day operational priorities
  • Committed to inclusion, teamwork and continuous improvement
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast‑paced environment
  • Successful leadership or management experience, ideally in education or a similar complex environment
  • Ability to lead teams positively and inspire high standards
  • Understanding of GDPR and data protection responsibilities (or willingness to develop expertise)
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and high expectations for all pupils
  • Flexible and responsive approach to change within a high‑pressure environment
