The Role
As an Associate Acoustic Signature Analyst, you join a high performing team of engineers, scientists, and data analysts in the Range Analysis & Maritime Signatures group, specialising in Underwater Acoustics.
Day-to-day, you will function as an Acoustic Signature Analyst providing professional advice and guidance to customers on underwater acoustic related issues/defects in the heart of a company recognised for excellence in research and development.
Responsibilities
- Continually developing novel/improved approaches to conducting analysis and reporting of acoustic signatures
- Working to ensure that all customer requirements are delivered according to the specified quality, cost and time requirements.
- Providing technical leadership for acoustic signature and investment related projects, and technical assistance to large scale, high complexity projects with which you are tasked.
- Interfacing with other teams within QinetiQ, Royal Navy, MOD, and other companies
- Working in compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental and Security requirements
Essential experience
- Previous experience using modern computing programming languages/software packages
- A fundamental understanding of the physics relating to underwater sound propagation
- Previous experience demonstrating a strong work ethic and enthusiasm for team working
- The ability to approach data analysis with a logical and methodical approach
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- The ability to be self‑motivated and perform well in pressurised environments
Essential qualifications
- A graduate background in an Engineering, Science or a technical discipline
This role is 37 hours per week based at our Winfrith site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. The flexibility to work at a variety of different locations within the UK and abroad is essential.
