We’re looking for a hands‑on Operations Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping and growing our hazardous waste treatment facility. This is more than a management role — it’s an opportunity to build a high‑performing culture, develop people, and drive operational excellence in a complex, fast‑evolving environment.

If you thrive on accountability, continuous improvement, and leading from the front, this role is built for you.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead day‑to‑day operations across our hazardous waste facility, including waste oil production, shredder processes, and transfer station activities — ensuring everything runs safely, efficiently, and compliantly.

Key areas of impact:

  • Operational Leadership – Own site performance, driving safe, compliant and efficient operations across all processes.
  • Safety & Compliance – Champion a Safety First culture, ensuring full compliance with environmental permits and H&S standards.
  • Continuous Improvement – Embed Lean principles (5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping) to boost productivity, quality and cost performance.
  • Performance Management – Use KPIs to create accountability and empower teams to take ownership of results.
  • People Leadership – Develop and inspire your team through coaching, mentoring and structured development planning.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration – Build strong relationships across teams and with external partners to ensure seamless, customer‑focused delivery.
  • Project Delivery – Lead operational projects with a focus on safety, structure and successful execution.
  • Workplace Organisation – Introduce and embed visual management to elevate standards and drive continuous improvement.

What you’ll bring

  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Experience in hazardous waste, waste treatment or similar environments
  • A strong background in operational safety, including risk assessments and procedures
  • Proven leadership of operational teams
  • Hands‑on experience with continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to turn data into action
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly organised, adaptable and able to prioritise effectively
  • Solid IT capability
  • Desirable: Waste industry experience
  • Behavioural safety or culture change expertise
  • Degree‑level qualification (or equivalent)
  • COTC (hazardous waste transfer & treatment)

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitive package
  • Work‑life balance – generous holiday allowance + option to buy more
  • Financial security – pension, life insurance & enhanced family policies
  • Perks & wellbeing – discounts, Bike2Work, Employee Assistance Programme
