About the Role

You will be responsible for investigating planning complaints and conducting enforcement investigations in a flexible and adaptable way, working with a busy team to tackle a diverse range of cases in an historic city environment. The role involves close collaboration with Conservation Officers, Planners, legal team, and the public, and provides advice across council services.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate planning complaints and manage enforcement cases.
  • Work collaboratively with Conservation Officers, Planners, legal team, councillors, and the general public.
  • Prepare and present complex information and reports.

Requirements

  • Excellent organisational, communication, negotiation and mediation skills.
  • Strong understanding of the planning and regulatory framework, especially in a historic city environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal consultees, councillors, legal team and the general public.
  • Good report writing skills and ability to present information accessibly.
  • Driver’s licence and proficiency with planning technology.
  • Commitment to upholding the planning system and protecting the city’s historic environment.
  • Right to work for at least 6 months and no reliance on sponsorship.
