We are looking for a Junior Commodity Trader to join the Frontier team, based at Witham St Hughs on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is a rare opportunity to enter the fast-moving world of commodity trading, joining a highly motivated established team. You will support the coordination of the domestic grain trading function within the UK.

Your Role

As a Junior Commodity Trader your role will involve:

  • Learning and understanding the importance of supply and demand input data.
  • Completing and regularly updating supply and demand models to support trading strategies and opinions.
  • Matching areas of surplus production with deficit regions and understanding the changing values.
  • Understanding the principals of ‘replacement trading’ to discover grain and oilseed pricing and value using market information, tools and mechanisms.
  • Using and developing relationship management skills to allow successful commercial negotiations with both internal and external consumers and customers alike.
  • Buying & selling grain with external trading businesses to deliver value to Frontier.
  • Being fully conversant and understanding appropriate grain and oilseed contracts, regulatory rules and Frontier grain policies.
  • Learning and fully understanding and actively manage inherent risks within supply chains to maximise value.
  • Monitoring and reporting on trading activity accurately and in a timely manner using in-house systems.
  • Working as part of the Frontier Trading Team to execute agreed trading and planning strategies.
  • Ensuring an understanding of risk management practices to maximise profitable business.
  • Keeping up to date with competitor activity and information and report on as appropriate.
  • Establishing a network of colleagues across relevant departments to support your work and understanding wider business objectives.
  • Motivating and communicating with Frontier’s Farm Traders to maximise farm origination potential.
