About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and organised Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects across Scotland.

Working alongside experienced Project Managers, you will play a key role in programme management, project reporting, document control, and site coordination, helping to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career in project management within the renewable energy and infrastructure sector, with structured mentoring and genuine progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Programme & Scheduling Support

  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and updating of detailed construction programmes using Microsoft Project.
  • Monitor project milestones and prepare programme progress reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify programme variances, potential delays, and project risks, escalating issues to the Project Manager where appropriate.
  • Support baseline programme reviews and contribute to look-ahead planning sessions.
  • Produce Gantt charts, critical path analyses, and resource-loading reports.

Project Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain project trackers, action logs, risk registers, issue logs, and decision registers.
  • Compile weekly and monthly progress reports using information from site teams, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, record minutes, and monitor actions through to completion.
  • Assist with cost reporting, purchase order tracking, invoice management, and commercial administration.

Document Control

  • Manage project documentation, ensuring drawings, specifications, technical documents, and correspondence are accurately controlled and distributed.
  • Coordinate the review and approval process for contractor submittals, RFIs, method statements, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain handover documentation registers and support the preparation of Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.

Site Support

  • Attend site visits to support the Project Manager and gain practical exposure to construction activities and project sequencing.
  • Assist with coordinating site meetings, toolbox talks, and health & safety briefings.
  • Help maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, progress photographs, and inspection documentation.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline, or up to two years’ experience in a project support or project coordination role.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project, with the ability to build and maintain project programmes independently.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop within a fast-paced project environment.
  • Full UK driving licence (or currently working towards obtaining one).

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary with a clearly defined career progression pathway.
  • Structured mentoring and coaching from experienced Senior Project Managers.
  • Support towards professional qualifications and chartership, including APM, ICE, or equivalent institutions.
  • 33 days annual leave (including public holidays).
  • Company pension scheme.
  • The opportunity to work on major renewable energy and grid infrastructure projects across Scotland.
  • A collaborative and supportive working environment with genuine long-term career development opportunities.
