Head of Compliance & Operations

We are working with a fast-growing specialist insurance brokerage seeking a Head of Compliance & Operations to join its leadership team.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of compliance, governance and operational strategy within a dynamic, entrepreneurial business. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will play a key role in building scalable processes, maintaining regulatory excellence and supporting the firm’s continued growth.

Insurance experience is essential. Candidates must have a strong understanding of the UK insurance regulatory landscape, including FCA requirements, compliance frameworks and insurance brokerage operations. Experience within a broker, MGA, insurer or other regulated insurance environment is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the compliance and regulatory framework.
  • Act as the primary contact for the FCA.
  • Oversee SMCR, AML, KYC, sanctions and CASS requirements.
  • Enhance operational processes, controls and governance structures.
  • Manage insurer agreements, third-party relationships and regulatory reporting.
  • Support Board governance and company secretarial activities.
  • Drive operational innovation and process improvements.
  • Deliver compliance training and promote a strong risk culture.

About You

  • Experienced compliance, risk or operations professional from the insurance sector.
  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulation, SMCR and insurance compliance.
  • Commercially minded with a pragmatic approach to risk and governance.
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, high-growth environment.
  • Experience with CASS and insurance operations is highly desirable.
