Job Description:

SMB Account Manager

London (hybrid) | £35,000–£40,000 base | £50,000–£60,000 OTE, uncapped

A fast-growing, market-leading advertising business is hiring an SMB Account Manager. We connect well-known consumer brands with niche audiences across the UK. The SMB Account Management team is brand new this year, so this is a rare chance to get in at the ground floor of a function with genuine upside.

The role

You’ll take on a book of around 150 SMB advertisers. Some are spending well. Most booked something with us once and went quiet, so the reality is closer to new business than renewals. Your job is to get back in, understand what these clients are trying to achieve, and grow them.

This is an account management title, but underneath it’s a commercial sales role. You’re not servicing warm accounts and processing renewals. You’re hunting for growth inside your patch, reactivating clients who’ve gone cold, and turning one-off bookings into year-round partnerships.

We don’t sell off the peg. The best people here work out how a client makes money, then show them how we help them make more. If a client just wanted an email campaign, they’d go to a performance agency. You’ll be solving commercial problems, not reading from a product list.

What you’ll be doing

  • Owning a high-volume portfolio with clear revenue and retention targets
  • Reactivating dormant accounts and building relationships from a near-cold start
  • Diagnosing client goals and building tailored solutions, not pushing fixed packages
  • Renewing, upselling and cross-selling in a value-led way
  • Working with Campaign Management to deliver accurately and on time
  • Managing pipeline, forecasting and sequences through CRM

Who we’re looking for

  • 12 to 18 months plus in a commercial sales or account management role
  • Some grounding in media, advertising or experiential. You get how the world works and how a sales cycle runs
  • A consultative seller who asks good questions and can sell something intangible
  • A self-starter who figures it out rather than waiting to be handed a process
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and pace. This is a young function and things will change
  • Tenacious and commercially sharp, with the instinct to spot which accounts are worth chasing
