We are partnering with a fast-growing e-commerce services business to appoint a commercially minded General Manager who can take full ownership of a multi-functional operation and drive the next phase of growth, structure, and performance.

This is not a traditional operations role. The business needs a leader who can run the organisation end-to-end, bringing clarity, accountability, and commercial discipline across all core functions

including Marketing, IT/Product, Customer Operations, Finance, and Service Delivery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping and embedding a high-performance, KPI-led culture, ensuring all departments are aligned to commercial outcomes, customer experience, and scalable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full P&L ownership and end-to-end accountability for business performance
  • Lead and align cross-functional teams across Marketing, IT/Product, Operations, Customer Service and Finance
  • Build and embed a KPI-driven operating model with clear ownership and accountability across all departments
  • Drive commercial performance through improved customer acquisition, retention, and operational efficiency
  • Hold functional leaders accountable for delivery, output, timelines, and ROI
  • Improve business processes, systems, and reporting to enable scalable growth
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to define and execute growth strategy
  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture in a fast-paced SME environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a General Manager, Managing Director, or Business Director in a cross-functional leadership role
  • Demonstrable experience holding Marketing, IT/Product and Customer functions accountable (not just operational teams)
  • Strong commercial acumen with full P&L responsibility
  • Background in e-commerce, digital services, SaaS, professional services or regulated environments preferred
  • Evidence of driving transformation, structure, and performance improvement in scaling businesses
  • Hands-on leadership style with ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels

What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)

  • Clear KPI framework embedded across all functions with visible accountability
  • Improved performance across marketing efficiency, customer acquisition and operational delivery
  • Stronger cross-functional alignment with reduced silo behaviour
  • Measurable improvement in profitability, service levels and execution speed
  • Leadership team operating with clarity, discipline and ownership
