A prestigious and highly regarded Surrey law firm is seeking an exceptional Private Client Partner to lead and further develop its successful Private Client department.
This is a career-defining opportunity for an experienced Private Client specialist who is looking to take on a genuine leadership role within an ambitious and well-established firm. You will inherit a substantial and loyal client base, oversee a thriving team of approximately 10 legal professionals and support staff, and play a key role in shaping the future growth and strategic direction of the department.

The Role
You will lead one of the firm’s most important practice areas, advising high-net-worth individuals, families, entrepreneurs, landowners and trustees on complex private wealth matters while driving the continued success of the department.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing a successful Private Client team of approximately 10 lawyers and support staff.
- Advising on complex wills, trusts, estate planning and succession matters.
- Managing high-value probate and estate administration cases.
- Advising on inheritance tax, capital gains tax and wealth preservation strategies.
- Acting for high-net-worth individuals, family offices, trustees and business owners.
- Developing and strengthening relationships with key referrers, accountants, financial advisers and other professional contacts.
- Driving departmental growth through strategic planning and business development.
- Supervising, mentoring and developing junior lawyers and senior members of the team.
- Working closely with the firm’s leadership team to contribute to the overall direction and continued success of the business.
About You
You will be an accomplished Private Client Solicitor with significant experience advising high-net-worth clients and leading successful teams.
Ideally, you will have:
- Existing Partner experience, or be a Legal Director or Senior Associate ready to step into Partnership.
- Outstanding technical expertise across all aspects of Private Client law.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Experience managing and developing successful teams.
- A commercial outlook and proven ability to generate and grow work.
- Excellent client relationship and business development skills.
- A collaborative leadership style and a commitment to mentoring others.
A client following would be welcomed but is not essential for the right individual.
