Job Title: Advanced Practitioner – Children’s Services (West Team)

Rate: £33.30 per hour (Umbrella)

About the Role
Coventry City Council is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join the West Social Worker Case holding Team within Children’s Services.
This is a key role working across a varied and complex caseload, including Children in Need, Child Protection, Looked After Children, and pre-proceedings. You will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality interventions and driving positive outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a complex caseload including Children in Need, Child Protection, Section 20 accommodated children, and Looked After Children
- Initiate and progress care proceedings where required
- Work proactively with families in pre-proceedings to reduce risk and improve outcomes
- Deliver high-quality assessments, planning, and interventions
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support within the team
- Ensure compliance with statutory duties, policies, and procedures
- Prepare detailed reports for court and statutory meetings
Skills & Experience
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
- Significant experience within safeguarding, Child Protection, court work, and Looked After Children
- Previous experience at Senior Social Worker or Advanced Practitioner level
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and case management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
Working Arrangements
- Minimum 3 days per week office-based during non-duty weeks (4 weeks out of 5)
- Full office attendance required during duty week (1 week in 5)
- Full-time role in line with standard local authority working hours
