Job Title: Advanced Practitioner – Children’s Services (West Team)

Location: Coventry City Council

Rate: £33.30 per hour (Umbrella)

Working Pattern: Hybrid

About the Role

Coventry City Council is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join the West Social Worker Case holding Team within Children’s Services.

This is a key role working across a varied and complex caseload, including Children in Need, Child Protection, Looked After Children, and pre-proceedings. You will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality interventions and driving positive outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex caseload including Children in Need, Child Protection, Section 20 accommodated children, and Looked After Children
  • Initiate and progress care proceedings where required
  • Work proactively with families in pre-proceedings to reduce risk and improve outcomes
  • Deliver high-quality assessments, planning, and interventions
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support within the team
  • Ensure compliance with statutory duties, policies, and procedures
  • Prepare detailed reports for court and statutory meetings

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Significant experience within safeguarding, Child Protection, court work, and Looked After Children
  • Previous experience at Senior Social Worker or Advanced Practitioner level
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and case management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills

Working Arrangements

  • Minimum 3 days per week office-based during non-duty weeks (4 weeks out of 5)
  • Full office attendance required during duty week (1 week in 5)
  • Full-time role in line with standard local authority working hours
