Job Purpose
The Hydrostatic Test Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and documenting all hydrostatic pressure testing activities for piping systems, pressure vessels, and associated equipment during the construction and commissioning phases of a nuclear power plant. The role ensures testing is performed safely, in accordance with project specifications, applicable nuclear quality requirements, and international codes and standards
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Preparation
- Review hydrostatic test packages, P&IDs, isometric drawings, test boundaries, and line lists.
- Verify system readiness before testing, including completion of installation, welding, NDT, flushing, and inspections.
- Prepare hydrostatic test schedules in coordination with construction and commissioning teams.
- Ensure calibrated test equipment, pumps, pressure gauges, recorders, and safety devices are available.
Hydrostatic Testing
- Supervise hydrostatic testing of piping systems, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, and mechanical equipment.
- Ensure testing complies with project procedures and applicable codes such as ASME Section III, ASME B31.1, RCC-M (where applicable), and project specifications.
- Verify correct test pressure, hold time, temperature, and acceptance criteria.
- Monitor pressure stabilization, leakage inspection, and pressure release activities.
- Supervise draining, drying, preservation, and system reinstatement after testing.
