Specialising in the disposable components of point-of-care (POC) in vitro diagnostics (IVD), we combine scientific expertise with advanced manufacturing capabilities to help customers bring breakthrough ideas to market. From electrochemical biosensors and reagent formulation through to full device assembly, we support projects from concept to commercial manufacture.
Due to continued growth and expansion, we’re looking for an experienced Senior Scientist to join our technical team in Livingston.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative scientist who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and seeing ideas become commercial products.
Working closely with customers, you’ll play a key role in developing new diagnostic technologies, designing reagents, optimising electrochemical assays and supporting products through development into manufacture.
You’ll work across multiple customer projects alongside internal R&D programmes, giving you exposure to a wide variety of technologies and applications in a fast-growing, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for:
- Designing and developing reagents and assay formulations
- Developing electrochemical methods and diagnostic test systems
- Supporting the development of new sensor build and reagent deposition processes
- Designing and executing scientifically robust experiments (DoE)
- Analysing experimental data and producing technical reports
- Authoring development protocols and technical documentation
- Supporting Design Control activities throughout product development
- Working closely with customers to understand technical requirements and deliver innovative solutions
- Collaborating with suppliers, manufacturing teams and external partners
- Contributing to continuous improvement and new technology development
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings both scientific excellence and commercial awareness.
You’ll ideally have:
- A degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science or another relevant scientific discipline
- Experience developing IVD products within a regulated environment
- Strong knowledge of electrochemical assays or other diagnostic measurement systems
- Experience designing reagents and formulations
- A solid understanding of Design Control and product development processes
- Experience of statistical analysis and experimental design (DoE)
- Knowledge of ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 820 and GxP requirements
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Desirable experience
It would be advantageous if you also have experience with:
- Reagent chemistry for diagnostic products
- Surface chemistry
- Microfluidics
- Design for Manufacture (DFM)
- Minitab or similar statistical software
- Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt)
- Automated manufacturing technologies including dispensing, laser processing or lamination
- Leadership or people management
