 REPORTING 

 

The role will report to the Studio Manager. 

 

ROLE OVERVIEW 

 

Working within the creative studio team, the Lead Photographer will oversee e-commerce model and still life product shoots for George, with additional ad hoc social and campaign shoots as required. Previous management experience is beneficial, as the Photographyteam will report into this role. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

 

  • Produce high-quality photography at volume in accordance with the client’s in-house style guide and approved lighting set-ups. 
  • Lead all e-commerce photography for menswear and womenswear, including model and still life shoots. 
  • Shoot product efficiently while maintaining premium visual standards within tight deadlines. 
  • Ensure accurate representation of fit, fabric, colour and garment detail. 
  • Maintain consistency across categories and seasons. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and output. 
  • Confidently set up, adjust and de-rig lighting independently when required. 
  • Prepare the working set, ensuring all equipment is fully functional, correctly maintained and ready for use. 
  • Work independently without a Digi Operator, including file naming, cropping, processing, image selection and sharing files with the retouching department. 
  • Take an active interest in product knowledge and trade information. 
  • Actively share best practice with the team, including providing clear guidance and technical direction to the Still Life Photographer, offering hands-on support to maintain quality, efficiency and adherence to George brand guidelines. 
  • Stay up to date with current trends in e-commerce fashion photography and lighting styles, ensuring the studio’s output remains modern and commercially relevant. 
  • Interpret briefs and create lighting lists for ad hoc social and campaign shoots. 

SKILLS 

 

  • Five or more years’ experience, with a portfolio demonstrating the techniques required for e-commerce model and still life photography, including composition, lighting, capture and processing. 
  • Experience working with adult and children’s fashion and accessories products would be beneficial but is not essential. 
  • Ability to direct and take direction, working effectively both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to perform well under pressure. 
  • Previous experience in a professional studio photography environment, ideally with high-volume fashion brands. 
  • Excellent knowledge of Capture One, lighting environments, photography equipment and set safety best practice. 
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit team. 
  • Knowledge of Photoshop. 
  • Experience using Canon camera systems, tethered shooting and Profoto lighting. 
  • Flexible attitude and ability to adapt to changing priorities. 
  • Commercially aware, with strong brand sensitivity. 
  • Knowledge of post-production and retouching workflows. 
  • Previous line managerment experience would be advantagous
