Senior Solicitor
Location: North East (Darlington, Sedgefield, Wilton)
Working Pattern: Hybrid (minimum 2 days on-site)
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Solicitor to provide high-quality, commercially focused legal support across the organisation as part of an established in-house legal team.
This is a hands-on senior role in which you will take ownership of a broad range of legal matters. You will support the business across commercial, corporate, property, and regulatory activities, working closely with the General Counsel and other solicitors to deliver timely and pragmatic legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, bringing prior in-house experience, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Legal Support
Provide practical and commercially focused legal advice across:
- Commercial contracts and terms & conditions
- Procurement and supplier agreements
- Corporate and transactional matters
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and legal documentation.
Broad Legal Advisory
Support the business across various legal areas, including:
- Property and construction matters
- Regulatory and compliance advice
- Pre-contentious commercial disputes
- Intellectual property considerations
Business Partnering
- Work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, offering clear and pragmatic legal guidance
- Support functions such as procurement, HR, and operations
- Build strong relationships and act as a trusted legal advisor
Team & Operational Support
- Assist the wider legal team in managing multiple concurrent matters
- Maintain and develop legal templates and frameworks
- Contribute to legal training and awareness across the business
About You
You are an experienced and commercially minded solicitor with a strong in-house background and the confidence to take ownership of a varied workload.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a current practising certificate
- Proven in-house legal experience
- Strong expertise in commercial contracts and general corporate/legal matters
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience in property, regulatory, or procurement-related legal work
- Exposure to complex or multi-disciplinary organisations
- Experience supervising or supporting junior team members
