Quintessence Fragrances is one of the UK’s most successful fragrance companies, with operations in India, China, Dubai and USA. Quintessence recently became part of the family owned Lucta Group, based in Barcelona, giving the companies enormous potential for further global growth.
Following significant investment in personnel and the latest GCMS and automated compounding equipment, we are now looking for a highly experienced Analyst to lead our team in the UK, coordinating with our Analytical and creative teams around the world.
As well as a proven understanding of analytical and extraction processes, the successful candidate will have a strong olfactory knowledge of natural and synthetic ingredients. Previous experience in a Fragrance house and experience-based knowledge or academic qualifications in applied chemistry to perfumery or similar is essential.
The Fragrance Analyst Manager role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing, team-oriented company that is investing heavily in the UK and regional centres, within which they will play a pivotal role. They will also be involved with the entire creative process by working closely with Perfumers, Evaluation, Marketing and Sales in assessing and analysing new market products and international trends.
Main responsibilities:
· Manage the UK Analytical team, and coordinate and support Analytical teams in India, USA and Barcelona.
· Analysis of market products and fragrance concentrates using GCMS
· Analysis of raw materials and bases for regulatory purposes
· Expand the GCMS library of raw materials and competitor products
· Optimise analytical and sample extraction methods
· Work closely with perfumers and evaluators
· Assist with calibration and maintenance of Agilent GC-MS equipment
Skills required:
· Degree or master’s in chemistry or other industry related qualification
· Track record of applied technical experience in fragrance analysis
· Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, GCMS techniques and softwares (knowledge of Agilent systems; Chemstation and MassHunter are helpful)
· Previous experience in a management role
· Good communication skills and ability to work within, train and motivate the analyst team
· Experience in fragrance duplication for different segments: homecare, fine fragrance, personal care
· Knowledge of extraction techniques and sample preparation
Due to the nature of this role we are unable to support complete remote working so applicants must be willing to relocate to the South Coast of England (8 miles east of Brighton) where our UK operation is based. We regularly visit our clients so you should be prepared to travel from time to time, when the business requires.
