Overview
Capio Recruitment is working with a well-established law firm to recruit an experienced Clinical Negligence Fee Earner to join their expanding legal team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with proven Clinical Negligence experience who is confident supporting and progressing a varied caseload of complex matters. The role will involve working with clients who are often going through extremely difficult and sensitive circumstances, so empathy, professionalism and attention to detail are essential.
The firm places a strong emphasis on client care and is looking for someone who can combine strong technical ability with a compassionate and supportive approach.
The Role
You will assist with the progression of Clinical Negligence matters from initial instruction through to settlement and litigation where appropriate.
Your work will include:
• Assisting with the management of Clinical Negligence files
• Taking initial instructions from clients
• Preparing draft witness statements
• Drafting letters of claim, court documents and other legal documentation
• Diarising key dates and ensuring compliance with court timetables and procedural deadlines
• Liaising with clients, insurers, medical experts, counsel and solicitors
• Attending conferences with counsel and experts, both remotely and in person
• Taking witness statements relating to liability and quantum
• Researching liability, quantum and other legal issues
• Instructing and briefing counsel and medical experts
• Using the firm’s case management system to run and progress matters
• Supporting cases from commencement through to settlement or litigation
• Working collaboratively within the Clinical Negligence team
• Complying with time recording and financial targets
The Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
• Proven experience working within a Clinical Negligence caseload
• Experience as a Solicitor, Legal Executive, Litigation Executive or Fee Earner
• Strong working knowledge of litigation processes and the Civil Procedure Rules
• Confidence handling complex and sensitive cases
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
• The ability to prioritise effectively under pressure
• The ability to work independently in a remote environment
• A commercial understanding of time recording and financial targets
• A compassionate, professional and client-focused approach
