Legal Counsel – Infrastructure & Energy Banking

Our client is a leading global investment bank seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its Banking – Assets Legal team. This role will provide specialist legal support across Infrastructure & Energy Banking transactions, partnering with front-office teams and key stakeholders in Paris, London and Dubai.

Experienced legal counsel for Asset Banking activities with 10+ years of experience, specifically specialist lawyer for Infrastructure & Energy Banking transactions supporting Infrastructure & Energy Banking transactions and related legal matters, with a focus on advising internal business stakeholders based in Paris, London and Dubai.

Member of the Banking – Assets Legal team in charge of transactional legal support for Infrastructure & Energy Banking activities, including structured finance, project finance and other real assets financing transactions, as applicable.

Senior specialist lawyer involved at all relevant stages of Infrastructure & Energy Banking transactions, including:

  • Structuring
  • Legal analysis
  • Negotiation
  • Documentation
  • Signing
  • Post-signing matters where relevant

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing legal advice, drafting, reviewing and negotiating finance documentation and internal legal analyses in relation to Infrastructure & Energy Banking transactions and related legal issues.
  • Liaising with external counsel.
  • Monitoring legal, regulatory and market developments relevant to infrastructure, energy and real assets financing activities.
  • Training and advising front office bankers, agency team, middle office, back office, syndication and innovation department on applicable aspects of infrastructure banking activities.
  • Providing legal contributions internally (including credit and new product committees).
  • Coordinating internally with other legal departments or foreign branches, Compliance, Tax, Middle Office and Risk departments as appropriate, in compliance with applicable internal procedures and guidelines.
  • Contributing to cross-functional projects of the Legal Department and/or business teams, depending on priorities and needs.

What we need from you

  • English qualified lawyer with a minimum of 10 years’ PQE.
  • Excellent academics and strong analytical skills.
  • Significant experience in Infrastructure & Energy Banking activities gained at a top city law firm, potentially complemented by in-house experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and key stakeholders, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and operate under pressure.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to respond and be flexible to client demands, whilst adhering to firm policies and group practices.
  • Ability to identify, assess and manage legal risks and escalate as required.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), including the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to senior internal stakeholders and non-lawyer audiences.
  • Strong client management skills.
