The Opportunity
An elite international law firm is seeking a talented Associate to join its market-leading International Disputes practice in London.
This is an opportunity to work alongside some of the market’s foremost disputes lawyers on complex, high-value and strategically significant cross-border matters. The team advises multinational corporates, financial institutions, private equity sponsors, sovereign states, state-owned entities and ultra-high-net-worth individuals on their most challenging international disputes.
Associates are given early responsibility, meaningful client exposure and the opportunity to work as part of lean, high-performing teams on headline matters spanning multiple jurisdictions.
The Practice
The team advises on the full spectrum of complex international commercial litigation and arbitration, acting on high-value, cross-border disputes involving multinational corporates, financial institutions, private equity sponsors, sovereigns and state-owned entities.
The practice has extensive experience in proceedings under all major arbitration rules, including ICC, LCIA, ICSID, UNCITRAL, SIAC, HKIAC, PCA and ad hoc arbitrations, alongside High Court litigation, investment treaty arbitration, post-M&A and shareholder disputes, interim relief, enforcement, asset recovery, and regulatory and investigations-related matters.
Clients span a broad range of sectors, including energy and natural resources, infrastructure, mining, financial services, private equity, technology, digital assets, telecommunications, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, aviation, construction and industrials.
The Role
Working closely with leading partners and senior associates, responsibilities will include:
- Managing all stages of complex international arbitrations and commercial litigation.
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements, expert instructions and submissions.
- Preparing advocacy materials and hearing bundles.
- Conducting sophisticated legal and factual analysis.
- Coordinating multi-jurisdictional litigation strategy alongside overseas counsel.
- Advising clients on dispute strategy, risk management and enforcement options.
- Supporting hearings, trials and arbitrations across a variety of institutional rules.
- Liaising directly with clients, experts, arbitrators and co-counsel.
- Taking ownership of discrete workstreams with increasing autonomy as experience develops.
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should have:
- 1–4 years’ PQE, qualified in England & Wales.
- Experience gained at a leading international or top-tier disputes practice.
- Strong experience in commercial litigation, international arbitration or a combination of both.
- Exposure to cross-border disputes is highly desirable.
- Excellent drafting, analytical and advocacy skills.
- Outstanding academic credentials throughout their education.
