Training Delivery Specialist – NPL

We are looking to appoint a Training Delivery Specialist to teach good metrology, best practice and inspire future metrologists. The role is based at our Teddington site and includes travel around the UK to periodically attend apprentice’s place of work and delivering training courses to learners at customer sites throughout the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging teaching material as part of a team.
• Share best practice in pedagogy and classroom management with colleagues.
• Assess apprentices across a wide range of measurement areas.
• Provide pastoral support to apprentices, including coaching and mentoring.
• Conduct monitoring reviews and observations at apprentices’ place of work.
• Develop opportunities and deliver classroom training to industry.
• Maintain accurate learner records, ensuring all statutory requirements are met.
• Continuously develop knowledge, skills and experience in teaching practice and measurement science to stay up to date and support business development.

Essential requirements

• Recent and proven experience in applied measurement.
• Excellent communication skills and a track record of communicating complex topics clearly.
• Experience of working well independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
• Proficiency with science instrumentation and IT systems, and demonstrable ability to learn quickly.
• Strong time and workload management skills.
• Creativity and problem‑solving skills.

Highly desirable

• Recent and proven experience in dimensional measurement using state‑of‑the‑art tools and techniques.
• Teaching and/or vocational assessor qualification.
• Experience working in an educational environment.
• Mentoring experience.
• Experience with educational theories and practices.
