Senior Programme Manager

Position Description

Join CGI to lead programmes that help transform one of the UK’s leading energy organisations through complex IT integration and business change. As a Senior Programme Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-value technology solutions that drive operational excellence, strengthen business performance, and support critical services. Working alongside talented colleagues and client stakeholders, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of major delivery outcomes, influence strategic decisions, and help shape innovative solutions within a collaborative environment that supports your continued professional growth and career development.

We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, and a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching).

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you must hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to obtain it. This role requires working in Aberdeen at least three days a week at client or CGI offices.

Your future duties and responsibilities

In this role, you will lead the planning, governance and successful delivery of complex IT integration and transformation programmes for a major energy client. Operating within a structured stage-gate governance framework and applying Agile practices where appropriate, you will ensure programmes are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with both client standards and CGI delivery excellence. You will build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, technical teams and delivery partners, taking ownership of programme outcomes while helping teams overcome challenges and deliver lasting business value.

Working across multiple workstreams, you will oversee programme governance, manage risks, budgets and dependencies, and ensure smooth transitions into production within HSE-critical environments. You will contribute to continuous improvement by embedding best practice, driving collaboration across diverse teams and supporting successful delivery from programme initiation through to go‑live and hyper‑care.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver complex IT integration and transformation programmes across multiple workstreams.
  • Own and govern integrated programme plans, budgets, RAID logs, dependencies and executive reporting.
  • Drive governance through structured stage‑gate reviews, ensuring effective decision‑making and delivery control.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with client leadership, technical teams, suppliers and business stakeholders.
  • Manage and mitigate programme risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies to maintain delivery momentum.
  • Support and influence governance forums, steering committees and senior stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure and protect alignment of scope, schedule, cost and quality against agreed programme objectives.
  • Lead and transition successful cut‑over, service readiness, go‑live and hyper‑care activities.
  • Embed and improve CGI delivery standards, metrics, lessons learned and continuous improvement practices.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

To be successful, you will bring extensive programme management experience delivering medium‑to‑large IT transformation initiatives within the oil and gas sector or similarly regulated environments. You will be an accomplished leader with strong governance expertise, excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to balance strategic oversight with hands‑on delivery. You will be comfortable leading complex programmes involving multiple suppliers while maintaining a strong focus on quality, risk management and successful business outcomes.

Essential qualifications

  • You should hold PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMP certification or another industry‑recognised Project/Programme Management qualification.
  • Extensive experience delivering complex IT integration and transformation programmes.
  • Strong expertise in programme governance, stage‑gate delivery and RAID management.
  • Proven ability to manage programme budgets, schedules and multi‑vendor delivery teams.
  • Extensive experience within the oil and gas industry.
  • Ability to work from the Aberdeen client site approximately three days per week.
