Overview
A new and exciting opportunity has arisen to lead on the embedding of an enablement approach within mental health social work. In this role, you will develop, implement and review a new approach to building the independence of people diagnosed with mental health issues who require social care services from Cambridgeshire County Council. The role involves reviewing current arrangements, designing and implementing service transformation and identifying areas for improvement. Responsibilities include reviewing individuals referred, carrying out a baseline assessment, working with commissioners, contracts, providers, Early Help, TEC and health teams to develop an enabling approach, and carrying out reviews and benchmarking to evaluate changes in personal outcomes and level of care and support. You will shape the role and create standard operating procedures to embed this practice across teams.
Working arrangements
You will be supported to work flexibly with the opportunity to work some days from home and some days in office. The role requires you to travel across the County to meet individuals from diverse backgrounds with a variety of diagnosed conditions.

About you
- Confident and dynamic, curious, proactive, able to map processes and deliver efficiencies.
- Some experience working within mental health.
- Autonomous, confident in decision‑making, proactive in seeking advice or guidance from colleagues and managers.
- Capable of communicating difficult decisions to colleagues and other professionals.
Essential requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with a Social Work England registration.
- Some management experience.
- Ability to work from a variety of locations and travel countywide independently.
