Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers project, programme and commercial management services across the built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care sectors.

Transportation Focus

APD provides advisory and project, programme and commercial management services to aviation, highways and rail sector clients, delivering transport infrastructure projects cost‑effectively and sustainably.

Role Overview

As Project Manager you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of a range of projects within the highways sector, working with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Successfully manage the development, design, delivery and handover of highways projects, ensuring processes, governance and project plans are aligned.
  • Deliver projects in accordance with scope, objectives and deliverables.
  • Ensure cost, time and quality targets are met, addressing deficiencies promptly.
  • Ensure Health & Safety, CDM compliance and liaise with relevant representatives.
  • Establish stakeholder and communication management processes, including mapping and statutory body liaison.
  • Coordinate commercial, procurement and project control functions.
  • Assess and manage supply chain resources and competence.
  • Administer NEC contracts for professional and contractor commissions.

Candidate Specification – Essential

  • Proven track record of project managing infrastructure and built environment developments of varying disciplines.
  • Degree in construction, engineering or project management discipline, or relevant experience.
  • Membership of a professional body.
  • Excellent IT skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in NEC contract administration (NEC accreditation desirable).
  • Commercial acumen and knowledge of planning and project controls.
  • Strong communication skills, including report writing and presentation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients, supply chain, stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Attention to detail, problem solving and team leadership experience.
  • Prioritisation under pressure and flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to create an enjoyable and fulfilling work environment.
  • Flexibility in working location and travel.
  • Confidence in representing Mott MacDonald with peers.
