JOB SUMMARY The post holder will work as an integral member of the laboratory team to help deliver a high quality laboratory service contributing to efficient and effective patient care.KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIESUndertake routine laboratory investigations within the assigned department.Interpret, validate, and report laboratory results accurately and promptly.Communicate abnormal or critical results to clinicians and GPs in a timely manner.Perform quality control procedures and take corrective action when required.Carry out routine maintenance of laboratory analysers and equipment.Troubleshoot equipment and assay issues, escalating to suppliers or senior staff where necessary.Participate in laboratory method validation and instrument evaluations.Support research and development activities within the department.Rotate across different laboratory sections as required.Manage workload effectively to meet laboratory turnaround times for urgent and routine samples.Accurately record patient information and test results using laboratory IT systems.Create and update laboratory documentation, including SOPs and forms.Complete Risk Assessments and COSHH assessments as required.Utilise the laboratory quality management system (Q-Pulse) to access documentation, record incidents, and support compliance requirements.Participate in internal and external audits.Assist with stock control and ensure the efficient use of laboratory resources.Attend departmental, quality, and staff meetings.Adhere to HCPC professional standards, code of conduct, and ethical requirements.Support and maintain compliance with UKAS and MHRA standards where applicable.Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory working environment.ESSENTIAL CRITERIAHold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.
