Chief Information Officer
Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to provide senior leadership for the delivery, performance and operational resilience of all digital, technology and information services across the Trust. The CIO will translate strategic digital priorities into robust delivery plans and ensure the safe, reliable and cost‑effective operation of the Trust’s digital estate.

Responsibilities
A core responsibility is delivering measurable improvements in patient care, colleague experience and organisational productivity through high‑quality digital services. The CIO ensures compliance with statutory, regulatory and information governance requirements, provides senior assurance to the Executive Team and Board, and drives operational excellence, risk management and continuous improvement across the Trust’s digital capability.
Qualifications
- Educated to master’s level or equivalent senior‑level experience in digital, informatics, technology management or a related field.
- Evidence of continuous professional development in digital transformation, leadership or information governance.
- Formal training in programme management, change management or leadership.
- Relevant professional membership (e.g., BCS, CHIME, FEDIP) – or a commitment to attain it upon appointment.
Experience
- Senior leadership in digital within an NHS provider setting.
- Proven delivery of large‑scale digital transformation and reliable digital operations (including EPR).
- Experience in cyber security, IG, clinical safety and digital risk management.
- Strong track record of supplier and contract management.
- Evidence of working effectively with senior clinicians, operational leaders, transformation teams and system partners.
- Significant experience with NHS governance, assurance frameworks, financial controls, SFIs and national digital standards.

Salary
£115,052 to £132,053 a year per annum pro rata
