Job Overview

Senior Project Lead/Senior point of escalation on projects aligned with the Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) programmes. The role provides leadership within owned LGR programmes, ensuring delivery is achievable, managed and aligns with the successful implementation of the reorganisation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful delivery of projects through effective programme and stakeholder management.
  • Deliver projects aligned to a Programme of work set out by the Head of Service.
  • Maintain a project plan and manage multiple resources from across the organisation, including project managers and project team members.
  • Identify, monitor and report on business benefits, both financial and non‑financial.
  • Train Business Analysts and Project Management staff on benefit realisation across projects and programmes.
  • Lead the required implementation of identified business activities within projects.
  • Assist in securing and allocating resources, working within budgets and monitoring spend for each project.
  • Line‑manage and matrix‑manage several staff, ensuring their training, development and welfare needs are met.
  • Communicate complex concepts to varied stakeholders, ensuring all project deliverables are well understood and received.
  • Lead and manage project team and project board meetings, ensuring accurate record‑keeping and follow‑up on decisions.
  • Manage project risks and issues, ensuring accurate recording and timely review.

Qualifications

  • A degree‑level qualification or equivalent experience at a senior project management level.
  • Relevant project and/or programme management skills or qualification, for example Prince2.
  • Experience leading complex programmes and projects within a senior PM role.
  • Experience in a Senior Project Lead or equivalent position for Local Government reorganisation programmes is desirable.
