Strategy and Communications

Strategy and Communications sits at the centre of the organisation, bringing together several teams with organisation-wide remits and mutual collaboration opportunities. The work of the directorate’s teams includes delivery of major events, designing and leading public affairs or marketing campaigns, providing data, evidence and analysis, leading cross‑organisational programmes, to making sure we plan for and can respond to emerging events or emergencies in our city.

About The Role

To work with partners across the Greater London region to lead the delivery of UEFA EURO 2028 social impact programme in the city. Focussing on driving participation, inclusion, community cohesion, economic impact and sustainability goals to ensure that the tournament leaves a lasting positive legacy for the people of London.

What your day will look like

  • Support Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), UK Sport, the Football Association (FA) and UK&I 2028 Impact and Sustainability teams with delivering the national impact strategy within London for EURO 2028.
  • Lead the delivery of the London Social Impact and Legacy strategy for EURO 2028, working with partners across the Capital.
  • Coordinate, plan and chair the Social Impact and Legacy working group for London.
  • Work closely with teams within the GLA including the Cultural, Sport, Youth, Sustainability and Violence Reduction Unit to integrate the already existing vision and ambitious goals for London within the EURO 2028 Impact Strategy.
  • Work closely with all members of the EURO 2028 team to integrate social impact and sustainability into all areas of planning for the tournament.

Skills, Knowledge And Experience

  • Proven experience of leading or delivering high‑profile social impact programmes, ideally within sport, major events or social development sectors.
  • Experience of developing, implementing and evaluating complex programmes whilst retaining focus on the practical delivery of measurable outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of diversity, inclusion, education and sustainability principles.
  • Experience of multi‑stakeholder collaboration across public, private and voluntary sectors.
  • Experience of commercial partner integration into social impact initiatives.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to inspire and influence stakeholders.

Benefits

GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office. In addition to a good salary package, you will be paid every four weeks, providing frequent salary payments.
