Job Overview

We’re looking for a proactive and reliable Waste Recycling Officer to support waste and recycling operations at Edinburgh Airport. This hands‑on role plays a key part in improving recycling efficiency, reducing contamination, and supporting sustainable waste management across the site. Working closely with the Account Director and airport staff, you’ll ensure waste is correctly segregated, processed and managed safely and efficiently.

Key Details

  • Location: Edinburgh Airport
  • Employment: Full‑time, Permanent
  • Pay: £13.70 per hour (40 hours per week)
  • Shift: 3:00 pm – 12:00 am

Core Responsibilities

  • Collect and transport waste from landside holding areas to the main waste yard
  • Sort waste streams to maximise recycling levels and minimise contamination
  • Operate waste compactors and baler machinery to produce high‑quality bales (full training provided)
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation across waste holding areas and the waste yard
  • Complete daily equipment and operational checks
  • Load and unload service vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Support airport staff with guidance on correct waste segregation and recycling practices
  • Carry out additional duties such as waste audits, confiscated waste disposal, and replacing signage or container labels

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced operational environment
  • Strong awareness of health and safety procedures
  • Reliable, proactive and able to use initiative
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
  • Comfortable with manual handling duties
  • Flexible approach to ad‑hoc tasks and operational requirements
  • Previous experience within waste, recycling, logistics or operational environments would be advantageous

Please note an airside pass application will be required. This requires a Disclosure Scotland criminal record check and a 5‑year work history; we pay for and process this on your behalf once you are offered the job.
