Extra Care Scheme Manager

We are working closely with local authority in Somerset to assist with the appointment of an Extra Care Scheme Manager on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at client’s discretion.

Rate of Pay: £13.47- £17.82 per hour

Summary

Somerset Council is seeking an experienced Extra Care Scheme Manager to oversee the day-to-day housing management and tenancy services within an Extra Care Housing Scheme. The postholder will ensure tenants receive a high-quality, responsive, and customer-focused housing service in a safe, secure, and supportive environment while promoting independence, wellbeing, dignity, and choice.

Responsibilities

• Ensure landlord responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Somerset Council policies, procedures, and relevant housing legislation.
• Encourage independence, personal choice, and wellbeing while supporting tenants to maintain their tenancies.
• Support void property processes including inspections and preparing properties for re-letting.
• Ensure compliance with housing legislation, safeguarding requirements, data protection, and health and safety regulations.
• Develop effective working relationships with Adult Social Care, health professionals, care providers, contractors, and voluntary organisations.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics
• Relevant housing qualification or willingness to work towards a recognised qualification (e.g., CIH Level 3 or equivalent).

Essentials

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in housing management within a local authority, housing association, or similar environment.
• Experience providing housing management support to tenants.
• Good knowledge of introductory and secure tenancy agreements and tenancy management.
• Knowledge of safeguarding principles and protecting vulnerable adults.

• You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
• You should have right to work in U.K.
• This role requires a Basic DBS
