Salary

£60,000 – £84,995 per annum, within Leonardo UK’s grade‑based salary framework.

Role Overview

Leonardo UK seeks an experienced Electronics Engineer to lead the architecture design of AESA antenna systems for future radar products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and assess new antenna architecture concepts for Leonardo’s radar systems.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to expand digital capabilities.
  • Identify key technology drivers to enable scalable product lines.
  • Promote design reuse and commonality to reduce engineering costs.
  • Engage suppliers and establish strategic partnerships to support AESA development programmes.
  • Support all key design review stages and work closely with radar‑level Systems teams and LRI/(s)SRI leads.
  • Track and report antenna LRI key performance parameters, maintaining documentation and models.
  • Maintain built‑in test control definitions, validation plans, and evidence of compliance.
  • Assist the AESA CDT Chief Engineer with reporting and documentation.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers, supporting overall antenna system solutions.

Qualifications

  • Degree in electronics, electrical or related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong expertise in LRI hardware digital architecture design across radar RF signal generation and acquisition.
  • Experience with AESA or phased‑array antenna concepts preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop product‑centric designs that minimise non‑recurring and recurring engineering costs.
  • Excellent understanding of system compatibility, interface control, and verification & V&V processes.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, iterative development and a “fail fast, learn fast” mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

Security Clearance

This role requires pre‑employment screening under the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and may require National Security Vetting (NSV) such as Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
