Job Description:

About the role

We’re looking for an Equity, Inclusion & Social Impact Lead to help us create a Derbyshire where nature recovery is fair, inclusive and shaped by the people and communities it serves.

This is a practical, people-focused role where you’ll turn our commitments to equity, inclusion and social impact into visible action across the Trust. You’ll work with colleagues, partners and communities to widen access to nature, strengthen social impact and create inclusive routes into green skills employment.

You’ll be a trusted advisor and constructive challenger, supporting teams to design and deliver work that is accessible and informed by lived experience. You’ll also help us understand and communicate the difference we are making, using insight, evidence and reflection to keep improving.

What you’ll do

  • Support colleagues to embed equity, inclusion and belonging into everyday culture, decision‑making and delivery.
  • Develop practical tools, resources and learning that help teams deliver inclusive and accessible work.
  • Work alongside communities, especially those historically excluded from environmental work, so lived experience helps shape projects and decisions.
  • Develop programmes that widen access to nature and strengthen community benefit.
  • Develop inclusive early‑career pathways for people facing barriers to entering the sector.
  • Use data, case studies and lived‑experience insight to evidence impact and support continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for

  • You care about making nature recovery fair, inclusive and relevant to people’s lives.
  • You have experience of equity, inclusion, social impact and community‑focused work.
  • You understand how structural barriers can affect access to nature, opportunities and decision‑making spaces.
  • You enjoy working with people and making sure different voices are heard, valued and able to influence change.
  • You’re practical, organised and confident turning ideas into action.
  • You can influence, support and challenge in a constructive way.
  • You’re curious and reflective, using feedback and insight to improve your work.

Benefits

  • Flexible working options – a 9‑day working fortnight meaning all full‑time staff get a non‑working Friday every fortnight.
  • 33 days annual leave including bank holidays, plus a festive shutdown period during Christmas and New Year.
  • Climate Perks: extra leave granted for staff using green, sustainable transport.
  • 9.5% employer pension contribution.
  • Electric bike and car salary‑sacrifice schemes.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Life Assurance Scheme.
  • Personalised Development programme designed to enhance your knowledge and progress your career.
  • A multi‑disciplinary business with opportunities to work on a wide range of projects.
  • A close‑knit, friendly and supportive team with a relaxed office atmosphere.
