Digital Services Senior Network Engineer – Band 6

United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is recruiting a Digital Services Senior Network Engineer to join the Infrastructure team, responsible for deploying an edge‑network and firewall refresh across all Lincolnshire community sites.

Job Details

  • Contract: Fixed‑term, 22 months (subject to extension)
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Full time) – part‑time and flexible working available
  • Salary: £39,959 – £48,117 per annum (EA model, yearly progression)
  • Location: Lincolnshire – community sites
  • Closing date: 15/07/2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineer and maintain edge‑network and firewall infrastructure across community sites.
  • Attend sites throughout Lincolnshire to replace network hardware and ensure network and clinical applications operate correctly.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to delivery technicians.
  • Document all changes and maintain accurate records in accordance with NHS standards.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and liaise with third‑party vendors when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to support service continuity and improve network performance.

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND in a relevant technical subject (preferred) OR degree in a related discipline.

Experience

  • Network + experience in a professional environment.
  • Industry qualifications such as Cisco CCNA or CCNP.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of modern data‑communication infrastructures (Gigabit Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, etc.).
  • Proficiency with network protocols (TCP/IP, RIP, DHCP, DNS, etc.).
  • Firewall and security management experience.
  • Layer 2/3 networking principles.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and fault‑finding skills.
  • Good analytical, planning and prioritisation abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Commitment to NHS quality and confidentiality standards (Data Protection Act 1984).
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies.
