Software Engineer (C++ / Linux / Safety-Critical Systems)
Security Clearance: Candidates must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC) prior to appointment. Existing SC clearance is advantageous.
We’re partnering with a leading engineering organisation to recruit Software Engineers to join a team developing next-generation, safety-critical software used in complex operational environments.

Working as part of a highly skilled engineering team, you’ll contribute to the development of complex distributed software while helping drive the adoption of AI-assisted software engineering across the development lifecycle.
We have opportunities available for both Intermediate and Senior Software Engineers.
The Role
You’ll be involved across the full software development lifecycle, including:
- Designing and developing software from system requirements
- Developing high-performance distributed applications using C/C++ (ADA experience also considered)
- Supporting software integration, testing and validation
- Investigating and resolving software defects
- Maintaining requirements traceability throughout development
- Working within Linux-based development environments
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Leveraging AI-powered engineering tools to improve software development, testing and documentation
Skills & Experience
We’re looking for engineers with experience in some or most of the following:
- C and/or C++
- Git or equivalent version control
- Software integration and testing
- JIRA
- IBM DOORS or similar requirements management tools (desirable)
- Distributed, real-time or safety-critical software systems
Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot or similar technologies would be highly desirable.
You’ll also have a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and ideally hold a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Telecommunications or another relevant technical discipline.
