Job Description:

Our client is delivering a major package of rail and civil engineering works on the nationally significant Sizewell C project. These works form a critical part of the wider programme supporting construction logistics for one of the UK’s largest energy infrastructure projects.

We are looking to appoint a highly capable Project Engineer / Senior Engineer with a strong rail and civil engineering background. This role would suit an individual who has developed through a Site Engineer to Site Agent to Project Engineer career path and is confident taking ownership of engineering delivery, temporary works, quality management, and technical assurance on complex rail infrastructure schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering function for a package of rail and civils works
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact between site teams, subcontractors and project management
  • Manage engineering support for level crossing, drainage, earthworks, structures and associated rail infrastructure activities
  • Review and approve RAMS, work package plans and construction methodologies
  • Coordinate and manage Temporary Works procedures, ensuring compliance with project requirements
  • Support design management and engineering change processes
  • Ensure robust quality assurance processes are implemented and maintained
  • Work closely with project delivery teams to resolve technical and construction challenges
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to Site Engineers and junior engineering staff
  • Assist with planning, forecasting, programme reviews and commercial awareness
  • Interface with client, principal contractor and stakeholder teams where required

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience working within rail, civil engineering or major infrastructure projects
  • Previous experience operating at Project Engineer, Senior Engineer or Site Agent level
  • Strong understanding of engineering assurance, construction methodology and site delivery
  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multidiscipline works
  • Thorough knowledge of quality management systems and engineering documentation
  • Ability to review technical drawings, specifications and design information
  • PTS/Sentinel Qualification
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Highly Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience supporting or interfacing with CRE (Contractor’s Responsible Engineer) duties
  • Experience working within Network Rail and major rail infrastructure projects
  • Temporary Works experience, including coordination, review and implementation of temporary works procedures
  • Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) qualification
  • Knowledge of rail standards, engineering compliance and assurance processes
  • SMSTS certification
  • HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
