The Opportunity
I’m representing a well‑funded, early‑stage AI and robotics startup that’s building intelligent software to automate complex physical workflows.
This is an opportunity to join as employee #4, working alongside an exceptional founding team to build cutting‑edge technology that bridges AI, software, robotics and real-world deployment.
You’ll have genuine ownership from day one, helping shape both the product and engineering culture while working directly with customers to solve difficult technical problems.
The company is backed by world‑class investors and experienced technology founders, with significant funding already secured and ambitious plans for growth.
The Role
As a Founding Engineer, you’ll become a core member of a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for designing, building and deploying systems across the entire technology stack.
If you enjoy solving difficult technical problems from first principles and seeing your work operate in production, this is the kind of role where you’ll thrive.
Requirements
- 3+ years shipping software within a fast‑paced startup or highly technical environment
- Strong systems and software engineering fundamentals
- Experience designing, building and deploying production software
- Comfortable debugging complex systems involving software, hardware and networking
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Curious, pragmatic and excited by difficult engineering challenges
Nice to Have
Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial:
- Machine learning or AI systems
- Robotics
- Edge computing
- Distributed systems
- Real‑world hardware deployments
What You’ll Be Working On
Depending on your background and interests, you’ll contribute across areas including:
- Building production systems that orchestrate complex physical processes
- Developing scalable software architecture
- Processing structured and unstructured data
AI & Perception
- Developing and deploying machine learning models
- Building computer vision and sensor‑processing pipelines
- Working with 2D and 3D data
Robotics & Control
- Motion planning
- Optimisation and real‑world system performance
Working Style
The engineering team works onsite in London five days a week.
The founders believe the speed of collaboration and iteration is a significant competitive advantage when building advanced physical AI systems, so this role is best suited to someone who enjoys working closely with a small, ambitious team.
