Due to continued growth within their National Security practice, they are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Security Architect to join their expanding team.

Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in large-scale cloud transformation programmes, helping customers design, secure and migrate critical services into AWS environments.

Working alongside solution architects, engineers and security specialists, you will be responsible for embedding security by design across cloud-native and hybrid solutions, ensuring compliance, resilience and security remain at the heart of every deployment.

The role offers the chance to work on nationally significant programmes while shaping the future cloud security landscape for some of the UK’s most important organisations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of secure AWS cloud architectures across complex enterprise environments.
  • Embed security-by-design principles throughout cloud migration and cloud-native transformation programmes.
  • Work closely with solution architects, engineers and cyber security teams to translate security requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Conduct threat modelling, risk assessments and security architecture reviews.
  • Ensure cloud solutions comply with relevant legal, regulatory and industry security standards.
  • Design and implement security controls across AWS environments.
  • Provide expert guidance on secure cloud development practices and act as a security escalation point for engineering teams.
  • Develop reusable security patterns, standards and documentation to support wider adoption of secure cloud technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to continually improve the security posture of cloud platforms and services.

What They’re Looking For

  • Extensive experience designing and securing AWS cloud environments within large-scale enterprise organisations.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security architecture and modern cyber security principles.
  • Expertise across AWS security services including IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, Macie, WAF and related tooling.
  • Knowledge of industry frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Benchmarks and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience conducting threat modelling, risk assessments and security assurance activities.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Passion for emerging technologies, security trends and continuous improvement.
  • AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CISSP or equivalent industry certifications.
  • Experience securing containerised platforms and cloud-native applications.
  • Previous mentoring or leadership experience within technical teams.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance.
