Job Description
At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we’ve tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it’s supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we’re not just here to move money— we’re here to move our global customers forward.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Program Manager – Payments within the Global Money Movement (GMM) team at Remitly. The GMM team focuses on enabling new payment options and improving the existing payments experience for customers sending funds from 30 countries to over 170 receiving countries. You will report directly to the Group Program Manager for Payments, exerting direct influence over the product and financial partners’ roadmap. The role is hybrid (2‑3 days a week) in our London office.
You will interact with financial partners directly and drive efforts to build payment programs, improve operations and incident management procedures, and use metrics to track payments and partner performance. You will partner with product, operations, data analytics, and other program managers to create from scratch programs and procedures that deliver exponential value to our customers worldwide. This role has a global scope with a primary focus on EMEA and APAC markets.
Responsibilities
- Help define payments product strategy, roadmap, and build a prioritisation framework that captures relevant trade‑offs and creates organisational alignment.
- Design, implement and manage programs and operational processes that help us scale within Remitly.
- Understand the payment ecosystem and Remitly’s platform end to end, the APIs in our systems and the dependencies, and use this knowledge to improve our payment systems.
- Identify inefficiencies in Remitly’s payments operating model and drive new solutions (including defining technical and operational requirements) to address them.
- Manage end‑to‑end project plans for new implementations, working with other stakeholders and financial partners to ensure delivery.
- Help to define and implement metrics to measure payments and partner health.
- Assist with incident resolution when needed, working with Engineering and Product teams to drive partner communications and escalations.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant experience in program management and/or payments business operations.
- 5+ years of payments experience in the merchant and/or payments provider side (e.g., PSP, acquirer, aggregator).
- Experience driving medium‑to‑large sized technical projects with external financial partners and cross‑functional internal stakeholders.
- Proficient in payment systems and architecture, comfortable engaging in technical discussions without delving excessively into intricate details.
- Strong program management skills with experience taking initiatives from conception to launch and managing end‑to‑end execution of projects.
- Basic to intermediate SQL skill.
- Experience working with product and engineers to make tough technical trade‑offs and a willingness to understand the impacts of these trade‑offs to balance short‑term outcomes and long‑term effects.
Benefits
- Paid vacation days
- Health insurance
- Commuter benefit
- Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
- Mental health and family forming benefits
- Continuing education
